Finding Wonder in the Ordinary
Finding Wonder in the Ordinary
There's something magical about those rare moments when time seems to slow down. Yesterday, I caught myself staring at raindrops sliding down my kitchen window, each one carving its unique path through the condensation. I should have been answering emails or prepping dinner, but instead, I stood there mesmerized, watching nature's tiny drama unfold.
Isn't it strange how we're constantly surrounded by small wonders, yet we rarely notice them? We rush from task to task, eyes glued to screens, minds already jumping three steps ahead. Meanwhile, the world keeps offering its quiet poetry—if only we'd pause to notice.
I've been trying to practice what I call "deliberate noticing" lately. Nothing fancy—just taking a few moments each day to really see what's around me. The way morning light filters through leaves creating dancing shadows. How my coffee swirls when I add cream. The unexpected patterns in sidewalk cracks.
These tiny observations won't change the world, but they've changed something in me. There's a fullness that comes from being present that no amount of productivity can match.
What might you discover if you slowed down just enough to notice what's already there?
